Medellin Buzz & Wandering Paisa Sushi Party
Last Saturday we had a big Sushi Party at the Wandering Paisa Hostel and it was a big hit.
My brother (Francisco, visiting from California), a friend, and I got to the hostel at 6:00 p.m. We met up with my pal John who had bought all of the ingredients for the sushi and precooked the rice.
We chopped up all of the ingredients and started to make the rolls.
By 7:30 p.m. there were already 10 people at the hostel. I knew by then that it would be a good turn out.
When 8:30 p.m. rolled around and we got the first rolls out to the table there were already 40 people.
Everyone who paid for sushi ate, and ate, and ate. We calculated the amount perfectly.
At 10:00 p.m. a group started to play music while everyone talked to each other in English and Spanish. I even met some French tourists and practiced mon français.
At the end of the day a total of about 70 people came, we were able to raise enough funds to pay my friend John back for the ingredients, and to donate to a local children’s foundation.
Thank you to all who came. I hope to see you at our next Medellin Buzz Conversation Club Event.
