In this post, I will go over why people are moving to Medellin, Colombia, and staying here long term.

1. Cost of Living

One of the most incredible things about Medellín is how affordable it is to live here. You can find great apartments in places like El Poblado for just $400 to $600 monthly. I’ve been in my home for seven years and pay $450 monthly for a three-bedroom apartment. It’s in the Manila neighborhood, and I love it!

2. The culture

Colombian culture is super fun and friendly. When I arrived, people in elevators would say hi, which was new for me! Everyone is so welcoming. Family is a big deal, and I’ve made friends with my neighbors and folks in nearby businesses. Everyone dances here – it’s a big part of the culture.

3. Healthcare

Talking about healthcare isn’t the most exciting thing, but it’s essential. Medellín has fantastic healthcare and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Major surgeries here can be 80% less than in the U.S. And get this: I pay $1,300 a year for top-notch health insurance. It covers a bunch of stuff, and that’s a yearly cost, not monthly!

4. Education

If you have kids, you’ll love this. Private schools here are great and won’t cost you a fortune. For around $800 a month, your kids can attend bilingual schools like Montessori or Columbus School. They learn in English, French, and Spanish. It’s a sweet deal compared to what you might pay back in the States.

5. Lifestyle

I’ve been here for 13 years and haven’t left because of the fantastic lifestyle. I can design my days around what I love. Work doesn’t feel like work; it’s more like doing what I’m passionate about. Plus, the lifestyle in Medellín is anything but ordinary. It’s full of random adventures, and I love it!

So, if you’re considering moving to Medellín, go for it! It’s an excellent place to be. If you enjoyed this video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe for more Medellín content. Catch you in the next one!
