So I’ve started a podcast with my good friend & business partner Joel. We interview people in English, in Medellin, that are doing cool things.

We’re on episode 17 already and our videos on YouTube and listeners on various podcast platforms are growing. It’s pretty cool.

Here’s a breakdown of all 17 episodes:

Feria De Flores – Medellin Podcast Ep. 01 (click to watch) – Our first episode was shot with one shotgun microphone, Joel’s DSLR camera, and one light. It was August, so we talked about Feria de Flores, which is the biggest festival here in Medellin.

The funny thing about this episode is that we have two locals on the show (Luis & Jason) and they both DO NOT like feria de flores. Yet the two guys that are not from Medellin (Joel and I) enjoy the festival.

This episode will give you insight into what goes on in Medellin during the Flower Festival.

Why Colombians…? – Medellin Podcast Ep. 02 (click to watch) – Here we added 2 condenser microphones to the mix. We talked about Colombian stereotypes and my dad, Julio Macia, makes a surprise appearance to talk about Colombian food.

I all people from around the world have their own stereotypes. Some are true, some are an exaggeration of something that may be true, and some are just false.

We dissect some of the most common stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding Colombia.

A Weekend in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 03 (click to watch) – In this episode Andrew, Joel, Jason and guest Richard talk about what to do, where to go and the budget needed for spending an outrageous weekend in Medellin.

In this episode, we were still pretty much shooting from the hip. Meaning that we really didn’t have our format down. Regardless, the episode turned out great because we were able to talk to Richard, who is from Scotland, about his experience living here, going out on weekends, and dating a Paisa.

Learning Spanish in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 04 (click to watch) – We had video difficulties on this one. Meaning we had to buy a better fucking camera! So no video on this one. It’s a shame too because Violeta is hot! We talked about her life here in Medellin and teaching Spanish to foreigners.

Talking to Violeta was great, she’s unfiltered and isn’t shy. Getting to know her point of view of foreigners that visit Medellin and life in general here was interesting.

The Law In Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 05 (click to watch) – This is our MOST watched podcast. In this episode with interviewed our friend and attorney, Alan Gongora. We talked about the various visas available to foreigners in Colombia, the legalities regarding drugs and prostitution, among other interesting things, all while drinking tequila, lol.

Although I’ve known Alan for many years now, and he’s my business lawyer, I don’t really know Alan. So it was great to have him on and get to know him a bit better. It was also great to pick his brain about what’s legal and not legal here in Colombia.

Why We Stayed In Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep.06 (click to watch) – This is our second most-watched podcast. We talk to our friend Mike about WHY MEDELLIN? Lifestyle, dating, having sex in motels and working in Medellin.

Many people have visited Medellin and have tried to start a business or get remote work and stay in Medellin. Many of them have failed. It’s nice to talk to Michael who came here to Medellin at 19 years old, went to University, and now works two jobs and supports his family.

Being a Mexican in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 07 (click to watch) – Our Mexican friend Ricardo came on the show to talk about having a chiropractic business, dating, living, and…well…being a Mexican in Medellin.

Not all foreigners in Medellin are Gringos. It was great to learn about Ricardo’s story. How he ended up in Medellin, how he started his business, and what his life is like here.

Living and Owning a Hostel in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 08 (click to watch) – Our English friend Shiv owns the Tiger Hostel. We talk about owning a hostel in Medellin and life as an English guy here.

Although owning a hostel seems like a ton of fun…it’s not always fun. Shiv gave us insight on what it takes to own a hostel, from the investment side of things to the operational side of things.

A Foreign Woman Living in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 09 (click to watch) – We talk to our beautiful friend Ioana Călin all about her experience moving to Colombia from Romania. We touch on everything from the cost of living, learning Spanish, dating, safety, shopping, respect, equality, and opportunities for women in Medellin.

Ioana is enchanting. Her beauty, grace, and elegance are ever-present in this episode. Also ever-present is Joel’s and my goofy asses asking her fun questions. She was a good sport and played along with us. It was fun learning about her life in Medellin.

An English Techno DJ Living and Working in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 10 (click to watch) – Our friend Nick Bowman, a techno DJ from England, who’s been living and making crowds move in Medellin for 6 years now. We talk about making money as a DJ, the techno scene in Medellin, safety, bar fights, dating, groupies, drugs, beards, etc.

I didn’t know shit about Techno music before this episode…now I know some shit. lol. Nick made this episode fun because he has some great stories and has been living here for 6 years.

Raising a Family in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 11 (click to watch) – We talked to our friend Jaclyn Kilani, who is married to a Colombian with 2 kids and raising them here in Medellin. We talk about what it’s like to be married to a Colombian, raising a family, safety, and healthcare, while drinking sangria.

In this episode I learned what it’s like for a woman from the U.S. to date a Colombian guy, get married, and have kids…and raise them here in Medellin. We went over things like schools, healthcare, and entertainment. I also learned that there are a lot of other foreign moms here in Medellin and that they have their own group on Facebook: Medellin International Moms.

A Korean and Restaurant Owner in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep.12 (click to watch) – We talk to our Korean friend, Brandon owner of the Korean BBQ restaurant Oppa here in Medellin. We talk about K-pop, opening a restaurant, dating, dealing with failure, encouraging employees, Colombia’s acceptance of Korean cuisine, and a whole lot more.

We recorded 3 hours worth of material on this podcast. Of course, we had to edit a lot of it, but we recorded for so long because we were having such a great time with Brandon.

Not only is it interesting to hear from a Korean living in Medellin, but he has opened two restaurants. If you’re thinking of coming to Medellin and opening a restaurant this is a must watch/listen podcast.

Being Digital Nomads – Medellin Podcast Ep 13 (click to watch) – We recorded this one in Sayulita, Mexico. We talk to our best friends Kyle Ellerbrock & Nathan French. They are Digital Nomads that work from virtually anywhere – even the beach. We talk about how they make money their lifestyles, crime, difficulties dating in Medellin, renting properties, the difference between living in Mexico vs Colombia, long ball hair, and a whole lot more.

Changing the “Gringo” Stereotype in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 14 (click to watch) – Our good friend from Michigan, Drew Crawford, stops by to talk about his experience living in Medellin. Find out what he’s doing to change stereotypical perspectives about Colombia and its people. As usual, we get into some juicy topics like political correctness, dating, Tinder, hygiene, safety, plastic women, life before Medellin, making money online, stolen phones, and prepagos.

Starting a Brewery in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep 15 (click to watch) – We sat down with our buddies, TAO & BEN from “Son Del Barri,l” to talk all about their experience opening and running a craft beer brewery in Medellin. Naturally we strayed from business talk to chat about their lives before and after moving to Medellin, dating, dancing, speaking Spanish, and a whole lot more. This is possibly the funniest podcast to date.

Medellin From a Paisa’s Perspective – Medellin Podcast Ep. 16 (click to watch) – The beaitufily PINK HAIRED Sofia came on the show. We talked about the “N” word, dealing with abuse, gringos, learning English, growing up an army brat, advice for foreigners, webcam girls (she was a monitor and translator for them), tinder, prostitution and more.

A Venezuelan Woman Living in Medellin – Medellin Podcast Ep. 17 (click here to watch)– Here we had entirely too much fun with our gorgeous Venezuelan friend, Carla. We talked about her life here in Medellin, teaching Spanish to foreigners, and dating Gringos. We drank champagne per her request.

We started the Medellin Podcast for fun. As you know, Joel and I run a digital marketing company here in Medellin, and we were looking for a fun side project. The podcast allows everyone in the company to be a part of the production…and it gives us an excuse to drink with our staff. lol.

We pick guests that are doing interesting things in Medellin and that can add a depth of insight into life and business here in Medellin.

You can watch all of the videos on our YouTube channel.
