Medellin is the most innovative city in the world in 2012

City of The Year: In a competition sponsored by the Wall Street Journal and Citigroup Medellin has won the title of most innovative city in the world. Medellin was named the most innovative city in the world on March 1st, 2013.  The Metro, Metro Plus, and Metro Cable system have opened up the city to people high up in the hillsides. Libraries, schools, and community centers have been built in low income level neighborhoods. Medellin has proven to be a city inspiring innovation, investments, and entrepreneurship.  Congratulations Medellin!


Sponsored: is used as a transitive verb and comes from the verb to sponsor meaning to finance or an event or project financially.
Hillsides: is a noun.  It’s the side of a hill.
Proven: is the past participle of the verb to prove.  It means to demonstrate the truth by providing evidence.
Entrepreneurship: is a noun and comes from the word entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is a person who owns a business, so entrepreneurship is the capacity to starting and running a business.
